Launching of 1st Caraga Region Drug Prevention, Awareness Program set

BUTUAN CITY, Nov. 8 -– The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) will launch its week-long First Caraga Region Drug Prevention and Awareness Program at this regional capital city on Monday.
PDEA Director General Dionisio R. Santiago, along with his regional, provincial and city officers, will lead the activity which will be participated in by other concerned government agencies, non-governmental organizations, the academe, religious and school organizations, and media.
Meanwhile, the top leaders of the PDEA congratulated their Caraga Region counterparts for the recent string of accomplishments in counter-drug operations in the region.
Santiago cited in particular the continuous operation by the Caraga operatives that resulted in the seizure of several sachets of shabu, marijuana and other contraband items and the arrest of close to 100 suspected drug dealers and pushers.
He likewise commended the Caraga PDEA for initiating reforms that fostered a healthy climate of cooperation and coordination among the different Philippine National Police regional, provincial, city and municipal stations and the Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Groups, including the full support of PRO 13 Chief Supt. Lino D. Calingasan.
Santiago also cited the support of local chief executives, religious and school groups and other concerned government agencies and NGOs in the government's campaign against illegal drugs. (PNA) scs/MUC/utb
