MANILA, Nov. 6 – Department of Justice (DOJ) Acting Secretary and concurrent Solicitor General Agnes Devanadera confirmed on Friday that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has called for a meeting on Monday regarding the review of Executive Order 839.

President Arroyo issued E.O. 839 ordering a price freeze on petroleum products at the Oct. 15, 2009 levels in Luzon.

Devanadera also said she did not see anything wrong with the pronouncement of Albay Gov. Jose "Joey" Sarte Salceda in connection with the implementation of E.O. 839.

Devanadera said that it is the right of Salceda to express his own opinion on the matter, adding that, she respected such opinion.

She also said that the Albay governor seemed not abreast with the reasons why the President issued the Executive Order.

Devanadera said that it was clear from E.O. 839 that the implementation would be on a temporary basis while the country was still reeling from the effects of the recent successive typhoons that brought about untold miseries and multi-billion peso damage to properties. (PNA)
