(Metro News) QCPD, SSS chief Neri files criminal charges vs. attacker

MANILA, Oct. 23 –- The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Friday filed criminal charges against an alleged communist rebel based in Pampanga Province on suspicion of strafing the house of Social Security System (SSS) president Romulo Neri two weeks ago in Quezon City.

The QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) identified the suspect through an affidavit as a certain Daniel Joseph Navarro of the Rebolusyonaryong Hukbong Bayan (RHB), and several other John Does as the ones responsible for the shooting.

Navarro and the other unidentified respondents are also facing robbery, serious illegal detention, and car theft charges for commandeering two Hyundai vans prior to the strafing.

Several armed men in camouflage uniforms peppered Neri’s house on Palali Street in Barangay Siena in La Loma, Quezon City on October 9.

Neri, in a recent interview with the Philippines News Agency at the SSS Main Office in Quezon City, said he was inside his house when the incident happened past 9 a.m. (PNA)/V3/JCA/
