MEXICO CITY, Oct. 23 — The Mexican national soccer team will have a two-month training camp for next year's World Cup in South Africa, according to the work plan presented on Thursday by the country's soccer federation.
Director of national teams, Nestor de la Torre said Mexico coach Javier Aguirre will name the definite players list for the World Cup before April 5 and the training camp will begin on April 12.
Mexico has scheduled four warm-up matches before Aguirre presents the definite players list for the World Cup.
De la Torre said the Mexican team will play on Feb. 24, March 3 and 24 in the United States, though their rivals are yet to be defined, while on March 17 the team will play a match at home.
They will continue their training in Mexico City before heading for the U.S. again on May 3 for matches on May 7, 10 and 13.
On May 16, the Mexican team will be presented at the Azteca Stadium and then fly to Europe, where they will stay 12 days and have three friendly matches.
"There are some possibilities we are on talks with Italy, Holland, England and Belgium," De la Torre told a press conference, referring to their possible warm-up rivals.
This will be Mexico's 5th consecutive appearance in the World Cup, and they expect to reach the quarterfinals. (PNA/Xinhua) ALM
