HANOI, Oct. 16 — Vietnam's business confidence index (BCI) in the third quarter of this year increased by six points over the previous quarter to 136, local newspaper the Vietnam Investment Review reported Friday.
The index increase was recorded in a survey jointly conducted by the Vietnam WVB Financial Intelligence Services and the PetroVietnam Finance Investment and Consultancy Company. The survey results were released on Friday, said the newspaper.
The survey, carried out from mid-September, attracted 143 companies from 11 sectors and industries in Vietnam. Half of them were small- or medium-sized companies.
The increase in BCI is a good sign, reflecting the recovery of the economy, said the survey.
Up to 77 percent of the questioned businesses said the economic conditions would be better over the next 12 months. About 69 percent said they are confident their company's profits will increase next year.
Vietnam's BCI was first introduced in the third quarter of 2008 with the starting point of 100. (PNA/Xinhua)
