Antiqueños rally to help typhoon-stricken provincemates in Metro Manila and Luzon

ILOILO CITY, Oct. 13 – The province of Antique is sending much needed relief assistance to Antiqueños affected by floods wrought by typhoons ‘Ondoy’ and ‘Pepeng’ in Metro Manila and Northern Luzon.

“We have opened our office even on Saturday and Sunday to accept donations for our fellow Antiqueños,” provincial social welfare and development officer Lazaro Petinglay said, as his office was swamped by relief items consist of rice, noodles, sardines and clothing.

It was learned there is quite a number of Antiqueños working or living in Metro Manila and Luzon area.

A group of Antiqueños in Manila will facilitate the distribution of the said goods to their affected provincemates.

Cash donations are also accepted through the office of the provincial treasurer.

Antique Governor Salvacion Perez likewise issued an executive order to all employees and officials of the provincial government to contribute in whatever way they can to help flood victims.

“We appeal to everyone, especially those who have more in life, to help all those who were victims of the calamity. We also ask faith-based organizations, schools, colleges and organizations to help us raise relief assistance,” Petinglay stated.
