Mindanao prosecutors gather in Davao City confab

DAVAO CITY, Oct. 2 — The Prosecutors League of the Philippines, Inc. (PLP), a national organization of prosecutors from the National Prosecution Service of the Department of Justice (DOJ), is now holding its Mindanao Area Conference at Grand Regal Hotel here from October 1 to 3.

The gathering themed: “PLP joins in the quest for unity and lasting peace in Mindanao”, was attended by prosecutors from Regions 9 to 14, including all the Members of the Board of the League.

Davao Province Provincial Prosecutor Ruben Pasamonte, PLP’s director for Region 11 and chair of the conference committee, said the conference was graced by Justice Secretary Agnes VST Devanadera.

Devanadera conducted a series of dialogues with the National Prosecution Service and the different DOJ attached agencies in Region 11 and with the Regional Trial Courts (RTC) and Municipal Trial Courts in Cities (MTCC) judges of Davao City on the first day.

On Friday, the justice secretary will be the guest speaker during the conference proper.

City Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte welcomed the Mindanao Prosecutors while Presidential Adviser for Mindanao, Secretary Jesus Dureza will speak on the government’s development programs and the prospects for a lasting peace in Mindanao.

On the same day, the PLP will also conduct a forum on its new Constitution and on the New Prosecutors Manual. In the evening, the league will hold its fellowship night at the same venue with the Speaker Prospero C. Nograles as its guest of honor. (PNA) FFC/JLC/lvp
