DAVAO CITY, Oct. 1 — The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) is now urging its members to pitch in their donations for the speedy recovery of thousands of affected families badly affected by typhoon Ondoy.

Simeon Marfori II, president of DCCCII, in a statement issued by the chamber on Tuesday, asked the business community to extend whatever support they can give.

"Ready-to-eat food, toiletries, towels, generic medicines and beddings will be very much appreciated," the statement said.

Earlier, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Vice Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and the members of the Davao City Council unanimously agreed to donate P10 million from the city's calamity funds as well as their one-month salaries.

The city mayor also urged the business group in the city to directly send their donations to the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC).

The mayor also ordered Davao City Police Director Ramon Apolinario to hand carries the amount to the PNRC main office in Manila.

Marfori said donations coursed through the business chamber may be delivered to the DCCCII Office at Chamber Building, JP Laurel Avenue, Davao City. (PNA) LDV/JGQ/lvp
