ALAMINOS CITY, Sept. 29 — The Alaminos City government donated 100 cavans of rice, 10 cartons of assorted goods, blankets and sleeping mats to victims of flood wrought by typhoon “Ondoy” in Marikina City.

The donation was personally received on Monday by Mayor Marides Fernando and her husband, Chairman Bayani Fernando of the Metropolitan Development Authority. Mayor Fernando is a native of Pangasinan.

The donation was delivered to Marikina City by Alaminos City Administrator Wilmer Panabang and Councilor Carol Sison.

Marikina and Alaminos are sister cities per a sisterhood agreement signed last year by Mayor Fernando and Alaminos City Mayor Hernani Braganza.

Braganza said when Alaminos City was hit by typhoon Emong in May this year, Marikina was the first city in Metro Manila to come to the aid of his city.

Panabang said the money Alaminos City was reserving in case another destructive typhoon comes to the city was rather spent for goods that were donated to Marikina City to benefit flood victims there.

He revealed Alaminos City is about to score bumper harvest of its upland rice planted in many of its rainfed farms in just about few days. (PNA) LDV/lvmicua/rma
