MANILA, Sept. 23 — The Dacer family has expressed their dismay with the raging exchange of accusations between former President Joseph "Erap" Ejercito Estrada and Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson in connection with the Dacer-Corbito double murder case.

In a statement, Carina Dacer, through legal counsel Lawyer Demetrio Custodio, expressed her disgust on the on-going tussle at the Senate. Instead of pointing the accusing finger to each other, Estrada and Lacson should reveal in the proper forum their knowledge about the case, she said.

Noted publicist Salvador "Bubby" Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito were abducted and slain some nine years ago.

The charred remains of the victims were found in a ravine in Indang town, Cavite province in November 2000.

The Dacer family also questioned on why Lacson was giving the information only now regarding the abduction and killing of their father.

Likewise, the legal counsel of the Dacer family expressed doubts whether or not to use Lacson as a witness in the case.

Custodio clarified that it is not proper that they get Lacson as a witness as the senator has neither stated nor revealed anything that can be used by the Dacer family against the alleged "mastermind" in the double murder case.

Earlier, former police Sr. Supt. Cesar Mancao II testified before the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) that Estrada and Lacson were involved in the abduction and killing of Dacer and Corbito.

Mancao was a member of the defunct Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force (PAOCTF) headed by then Philippine National Police (PNP) and now Senator Lacson, during which time, Dacer and Corbito were executed.

Following the revelations of Mancao, Lacson in a privilege speech he delivered in the Senate linked the former president in the abduction and killing of Dacer and Corbito in November 2000.

Aside from the Dacer-Corbito double murder case, Lacson also linked the former president in the abduction and killing of Edgar Bentain in January 1999.

Bentain was an employee of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) who was the source of a video footage showing the former president playing in the casino with his friend Charlie "Atong" Ang.

Erap vehemently denied the allegations of Lacson. (PNA)
