BORACAY ISLAND, Aklan, Sept. 11 – Sun, sand, and sports or whatever foreign and local tourists like here, the peace and order situation is kept tight by law enforcers 24/7.

"Ensuring peace and order in this resort island is a top priority for the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office 6," this was stressed by PRO 6 director, C/Supt. Isagani Cuevas in an interview here.

Cuevas said this after the turnover ceremony and installation of S/Supt. Epifanio Bragais Jr. as the new provincial director of the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO).

Bragais replaced Senior Supt. Ruperto Floro, the regional chief of the PRO 6 Operations and Plans Division who served as concurrent director of APPO.

"Boracay being considered as the top priority, it is not easy thus public officers in the province should remain vigilant and strictly follow orders from the PNP," Cuevas said.

He added that whatever the local police do in Boracay is reflective of the PNP organization as a whole.

The Boracay Police has been placed under the Integrated Transformation Program of the PNP, making it as the country’s model police station.

Boracay is the top island beach destination in the country with over 400,000 visitors in the first six months this year, data from the Department of Tourism showed. (PNA)
