Architect wins DPWH GAD logo-making contest

MANILA, Sept. 10 — Architect Ponciano Agno, Jr. of the Malabon-Navotas Sub-District Engineering Office won the first prize in the recently concluded Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Gender and Development (GAD) Logo Making Contest.

With the theme, "DPWH Moving Towards Gender-Responsive Infrastructure", the contest was launched recently to promote dedication and empowerment of the Filipino women by increasing their awareness and knowledge.

It will also make them proactive and providing them with the precise tools for pushing gender equality in the DPWH infrastructure development programs and projects.

Assistant Secretary for Planning and Chairperson for GAD Maria Catalina E. Cabral led in the awarding of trophies and cash prizes for the top three winners and the distribution of certificates and cash prizes for the consolation prize winners.

"The winning logo will be used for all DPWH-GAD related activities," Monitoring and Information Service (MIS) and Vice Chairperson for GAD B. Elizabeth E. Yap said.

Ruiel John R. Valencia of the Public Information Division (PID) – MIS and Architect Elmer Cezar A. Zaleta of the Office of the District Engineer, Daet, Camarines Norte, Region V bagged the second and third prize, respectively.

Thirteen other personnel from NCR and Regions III, IV-A, IV-B, V, XI and XII also participated in the event.

After the awarding ceremonies, the inauguration of the newly established GAD office at the Second Floor, South Wing Annex, Central Office was also held with all the members of the Committee on GAD, TWG and contest participants.(PNA) LOR/LBV
