Duterte urges dads to allocate P3 M to support Army’s educational program

DAVAO CITY, Sept. 7 — Mayor Rodrigo Duterte urged the city council to pass an ordinance to allocate P3 million to support the educational fund of the Task Force Davao for the studies and skills development of qualified children in hinterland Paquibato District here.

The mayor also lauded the TF Davao for initiating leadership and educational drive for the youth.

“Through education, we can open up their minds to the vast opportunities being offered by skills specialization, which can provide them jobs and eventually income to uplift their way of life,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lt. Colonel Cesar De Mesa, commanding officer of the 69 Infantry Battalion, urged residents of Barangay Dalagdag, Calinan District to coordinate with the government to drive away the rebels from their community following the encounter that between the soldiers and rebels under Leoncio Pitao alias Kumander Parago of the Pulang Bagani Command 1 last Sept. 5.

He attributed the discovery of the rebel camp in Barangay Dalagdag to the information given by concerned citizens in Paquibato.

Speaking during a community-consultation with Barangay Chair Oscar Almendez and Major Patrick Cinco, spokesperson of the TF Davao, De Mesa assured that his soldiers are friendly and willing to listen to the complaints of the residents.

De Mesa reiterated that his unit will assume as link between the city government and the people especially in the delivery of basic services. (PNA) FFC/JSGD/lvp
