MANILA, Aug. 20 — Malacanang confirmed Thursday that television host/actor Edu Manzano has submitted his resignation to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as chairman of the Optical Media Board (OMB).

Deputy Presidential Spokesman Undersecretary Anthony Golez said the term of Manzano has actually expired March 5, 2007. He is, however, serving in a hold over capacity to help the government.

Golez said one of the reasons Manzano cited for his resignation is he will attend to personal advocacies that include his devotion to eliminate child pornography, and run for public office in next year’s national and local elections.

He said the Palace is now looking for Manzano’s replacement at the OMB.

On February 10, 2004, President Arroyo signed into law the Optical Media Act of 2003 with Manzano appointed as first chairman of the OMB. (PNA) LDV/OPS/ssc
