STA. RITA, Pampanga, Aug. 19 — Sixteen members of the Malaya Lola, a group of comfort women based in Candaba, Pampanga, serenaded President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during her visit to Barangay San Juan (Macaba) of this town this afternoon.

The President, who arrived a little past noon, is in this town to inspect the status of the road concreting project expected to address the problem of soil erosion and the occurrence of flooding in the area.

Once completed, the fully concreted road will connect to the approaches of the Pampanga megadike and fortify its ability to repel floods cascading from the slopes of Mt. Pinatubo and other areas as well as provide a strengthened anti-soil erosion facility for the municipality.

Malaya Lola president Isabelita Vinuya could not contain her excitement and happiness at being able to sing for the President who she said always help and provide assistance to the poor.

Joined by 15 of her companions, the Malaya Lola started singing as the President arrived. The singing immediately brought a smile to her face.

Presidential Deputy Spokesperson and Presidential Assistant for Region III Lorelei Fajardo said the Chief Executive personally knew the members of Malaya Lola as they have been her staunch supporters since she was a senator.

Below are the lyrics of the song the Malaya Lola group sang for the President:

(PNA)
