PGMA to DPWH: Speed up Iligan C3 road construction

SULTAN NAGA DIMAPORO, Lanao Del Norte, Aug. 17 — President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ordered the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) today to expedite the immediate resolution of the right of way problem in the construction of the Iligan Circumferential Road (C3).

Reacting to the slow construction of the C3, the President asked the DPWH to prioritize the issue surrounding the right of way problem of the infrastructure project in order to hasten the vehicular traffic in the city.

The President also tasked the DPWH to speed-up the construction of roads particularly in areas where traffic has been frequently experienced by motorists.

The President assured that the government is actively working to address the right-of-way acquisition problem. She reported that more than 30 percent of the project has been accomplished.

“The people of Iligan can rest assured that we will overcome these obstacles to the construction of this road and I will see to it that the project is completed at the earliest possible time,” she said.

The President said the national government has allocated some P363 million for the Iligan C3 Road. The C-3 is a part of the administration’s larger plan to enhance the country’s infrastructure. (PNA)
