'August Moon,' a figment of imagination – Remonde

MANILA, Aug. 16 –- Press Secretary Cerge M. Remonde on Sunday said that the alleged Oplan (Operation Plan) “August Moon” plot against the Philippine government is a figment of the imagination of a black propagandist.

Remonde said it has no basis and no truth to it. “It’s another form of agitation propaganda.

“It’s some kind of a black propaganda against the government and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). We have a very professional AFP who have sworn to defend the Philippine Constitution and follow the chain of command,” Remonde said over state-run DZRB (national radio).

The "Oplan August Moon" plot purportedly hatched by members of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1978 intends to retain the President in power beyond 2010.

Remonde reiterated that Mrs. Arroyo would step down from her post by the end of her term, just as she stated in her State of the Nation Address (SONA) in July.

The Palace said previously that the Armed Forces is a highly professional organization and could not be politicized, and plots such as "August Moon" could not emanate from the organization.(PNA)/V3/JCA/
