MANILA, Aug. 10 —Senator Mar Roxas on Monday deferred the filing of a bill which renames Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) to Cory Aquino Avenue.

Roxas said he would like to honor the memory of the late President Corazon Aquino but he would like to find the right way to do it.

”One idea is to rename EDSA but EDSA is already meaningful in our history,” Roxas said.

He said that if EDSA was renamed, the spirit of EDSA, which is already discussed in school books, might get lost as well.

Roxas also said that some people suggested the renaming of the North Luzon Expressway to Tarlac after Cory. Tarlac is the home province of Mrs. Aquino.

He also said that the family of the late president was very humble in such things. He remembers the reaction of the Aquinos when the Manila International Airport was named after martyred Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.

”They follow what’s appropriate and what the people wants,” Roxas, president of Liberal Party, said.(PNA)
