CPO production up 3.02% in July

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 10 — Malaysia's crude palm oil (CPO) production in July surged 3.02 percent to 1.489 million tons from 1.446 million tons in June.

In a statement here today, the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) said palm kernel production was also higher at 381,429 tons in July compared with 353,356 tons in June and crude palm kernel oil rose to 178,424 tons from 162,723 tons previously.

It said palm kernel cake increased to 197,324 tons from 179,846 tons.

The board said CPO stocks, however, fell to 656,825 tons from 720,928 tons in June and processed palm oil stocks dipped 2.29 percent to 671,615 tons from 687,389 tons previously.

Total palm oil stocks declined by 5.67 percent to 1.328 million tons in July from 1.408 million tons in June.

MBOB said palm oil exports rose by 13.23 percent to 1.449 million tons last month compared with 1.279 million tons previously.

Palm kernel oil exports, however, dropped 3.48 percent to 80,071 tons from 82,956 tons.

CPO imports in July fell by 0.28 percent to 82,351 tons from 82,581 tons in June.

Processed palm oil imports rose by 143.21 percent to 10,937 tons from 4,497 tons previously. (PNA/Bernama) DCT/mec
