25 injured in road mishap in San Miguel, Iloilo

ILOILO CITY, Aug. 6 – A vehicular accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon involving two public utility jeepneys (PUJs), causing injuries to at least 25 passengers in San Miguel, Iloilo.

The San Miguel police said both passenger jeepneys came from Iloilo City on their way to Leon and Alimodian towns in the province of Iloilo. But upon reaching the road crossing along Malaga Street in Barangay 12, San Miguel, the two vehicles crashed.

The Leon-bound PUJ driven by Ryan Cabarles turned turtle, causing injuries to passengers on board. Some of those injured were teachers of the Leon National High School in Leon town proper.

It was reported that the 25-year-old Cabarles of Brgy. Isian Norte, Leon, was in critical condition when brought to the nearby Aleosan District Hospital in Alimodian, Iloilo.

Most of those injured were residents of Leon town except Mariano Alminasa, 43 years old of Barangay Buhay, Alimodian.

The others injured were Teresita Canitan, 61, of Cabalfin St., Leon; Ma. Luz Capio, 52, of Barangay Gines, Leon; Rosemay Camancho, 45, of Brgy. Coyugan, Leon; Edwin Delioro, 35, of Brgy. Mocol, Leon; Ronald Cabanig, 33 and his wife Geralyn and their three-year-old daughter Pauline of Cabalfin St., Leon; Rogie Camilote, 30, of Brgy. Talacuan, Leon; Reda Mae Capio, 20, of Brgy. Gines, Leon; Ramuel Cabido, 25, of Brgy. Anonang, Leon;

Shiela Encarquez, 21, of Talacuan, Leon; Amera Claro, 17, of Brgy. Coyugan, Leon; Zahara anaud, 14, of Cabalfin St., Leon; Gemark Gereda, 6, of Brgy. Talacuan, Leon; Joseph Baniel, 6, of Brgy. Tin-an Norte, Leon; and Glena Canaya, also of Leon poblacion.

They were brought to the Aleosan District Hospital for treatment of injuries ranging from bruises, contusions and hematomas in the different parts of their bodies.
