Noynoy denies snubbing Marcoses in her mother's wake

Manila, August 4 —Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III denied that he snubbed the siblings of the late President Ferdinand Marcos whey they visited the wake of her mother, former President Corazon Aquino, at Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Sen. Noynoy, only son of former President Cory, he was not around when Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his sister. former Ilocos Norte Rep. Imee Marcos, paid last respect to the wake of President Cory in Manila Cathedral around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Sen. Aquino said that when he was informed that the Marcoses were on their way to the Manila Cathedral, he could not leave to meet them because he was busy writing the family’s response to the necrological rites for their mother, as well as their response to Wednesday’s final mass.

In the absence of Noynoy, his sister Ballsy met the two Marcoses at the wake of Cory.

President Cory's eldest daughter, Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, and Rep. Imee, the eldest daughter of former Pres. Marcos, were classmate in kindergarten.

”They went there and condole with us, we should appreciate the gesture,” Noynoy added.

Meanwhile, Pinky, one of the daughters of President Cory, also thanked the Marcoses for their effort to pay respect to their mother.

”We are thankful, they made the effort to come so thank you. Thank you to Imee and Bongbong,” Pinky said.

She also said, they feel that the Marcoses were sincere when they extended prayers and condolences to their family for the demise of their mother.(PNA)
