PNP secure memorial services for Cory

MANILA, Aug. 1 — The Metro Manila police will provide 24-hour security in all venues of the 10-day national mourning for the late President Corazon C. Aquino.

Philippine National Police Chief, Director General Jesus A. Verzosa directed National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO)director, Chief Supt. Roberto Rosales to provide police assistance to mourners, who are expected to troop to the Heritage Park in Taguig City and at the La Salle Greenhills to pay their last respects to the late former president.

Rosales deployed security contingents at the Heritage Park and in La Salle Greenhills for the scheduled public viewing of the remains of the late former president.

Security contigents will also be deployed in other venues where masses and memorial services will be held.

"EOD teams assisted by K9 units will conduct security paneling in all venues, and vehicle traffic in these areas will be managed in coordination with the MMDA and concerned LGUs,"Rosales said.

PNP liaison officers are in constant coordination with the Aquino family and organizers of the activities to provide appropriate security measures. (PNA)
