MANILA, July 29 — The Marcos family, through Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., has joined the entire nation in praying for the recovery of former President Corazon Aquino, who is confined at the Makati Medical Center for over a month now due to colon cancer.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Aquino and her family in this difficult moment. I know how her family feels because we also went through the same experience with my father," said Marcos in a statement.

"Let's drop politics on this one and just wish the former president peace in her heart and comfort in her pains. We believe in the power of prayers and that God serves as our best weapon against problems, trials and difficulties in life," he added.

The late Sen. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, husband of Mrs. Aquino, was a long-time critic of the late president Ferdinand Marcos.

Ninoy's death ignited what ended three years later as the EDSA People Power that toppled the 20-year Marcos dictatorship in the Philippines.

Mrs. Aquino, widow of Ninoy, was proclaimed as the first woman president of the country.

The housewife-turned-president went on to restore democracy and rewrite the country's Constitution. (PNA)
