3 Davao pool masters to join in Laos SEA Games (Sports)

DAVAO CITY, July 29 — Three pool masters from Davao City will be joining the country's "Dream Team" that will see action in the 25th Southeast Asian Games in Vientiane, Laos in December.
In a press released furnished by the Billiards Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP) president Arturo "Bong" Ilagan, said Gandy Valle, Lee Vann Corteza and lady cue artist Mary Ann Basas are part of the RP’s team.
The Dream Team lead by pool legend Efren "Bata" Reyes will have Ronnie Alcano, Alex Pagulayan, Dennis Orcollo, Ramil Gallego, Roberto Gomez, Warren Kiamco, Rodolfo Luat, Reynaldo Grandea and Benjie Guevarra.
Ilagan said RP's reigning World Women's 10-Ball champion Rubilen Amit is also part of the "Dream Team" along with Iris Ranola.
He said the RP’s team is composed of members of billiards, managers and players association of the Philippines and Senator Manny Villar's team “Villards: Tulong sa Pagsulong ng Philippine sports”.
Most of the players have won gold medals in past SEAG editions, he said.
"This is the best billiards team ever formed. No other team in the world is better than this," Ilagan said.
"The United States can form a dream team in basketball. We are the only country that can do so in billiards, and this is it," he added.
He said Reyes will show his wares in the carom and English billiards where he will pair with Luat and Grandea.
Meanwhile, Bustamante, Corteza, Orcollo and Gallego will compete in 9-ball events.
Alcano, Valle and Kiamco will play in 8-ball while Pagulayan, Gomez and Guevarra will see action in snooker events.
