LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, July 11 — A detention prisoner who escaped from the municipal jail here last July 4 was recaptured four days later by elements of the Lingayen Police.
Superintendent Harris Fama, chief of the Lingayen Police, said Ronnie Cabusora, who is facing a charge of carnaping, was rearrested in Barangay Libsong East, Lingayen.
Cabusora escaped at dawn of July 4 by opening the padlock of the jail cell with the use of an improvised key which he removed from a steel bed he was sleeping on.
However, after four days of manhunt, Cabusora was recaptured at 7:30 a.m. of July 8 at the residence of his grandfather by joint elements of the Lingayen Police led by Fama and the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office Intelligence Branch under Superintendent Romeo Caramat.
Cabusora was arrested by the police on May 19 this year after he stole a motorcycle owned by Roy Palec, also of Lingayen.
The escaped prisoner is now set to be transferred to the provincial jail.
Senior Superintendent Percival Barba, police provincial director of Pangasinan, commended the officers and men of the Lingayen Police Station and the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office for bringing the detention prisoner back to his sell.
The same commendation was extended to the police by Lingayen Mayor Ernesto Castaneda. (PNA)
