MANILA, June 30 –- The Philippine National Police (PNP) leadership today ordered a thorough investigation of the bombings at the Office of the Ombudsman on Monday and the discovery of an improvised explosive device (IED) at the Department of Agriculture grounds this morning.

Senior Supt. Leonardo Espina, PNP spokesman, said PNP chief Director General Jesus Verzosa directed all police units, particularly in the National Capital Region (NCR), to be vigilant and touch-based with local authorities to prevent similar incidents.

Espina, however, assured there is no cause for alarm.

”Investigation is ongoing to get to the bottom of these incidents,” said Espina.

”The chief PNP has directed the NCRPO and all police chiefs to be vigilant and secure vital installations in coordination with barangay officials and security agencies,” said Espina.

Espina maintained the incidents do not call for any increase in the PNP’s alert level.

”There is no need to upgrade the level of alert but we have to be vigilant…we are in full control of the situation and we continue to perform our regular daily activities,” said Espina. (PNA)/V3/MM/
