MANILA, June 29 – Malacañang said President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will quarantine herself for 10 days if she has A(H1N1) symptoms after she returns to Manila on Monday night from her working visit to Japan and Brazil.

”The President will also comply with the guidelines of the DoH and World Health Organization (WHO) by going through the Thermal Scanner. If She has no fever or no signs of A[H1N1], then Mrs. Arroyo can go on with her normal duties but if she’s sick, then she has to stay home for five to 10 days,” Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Undersecretary Lorelei Fajardo and Dr. Vito Roque of the Department of Health (DoH) Surveillance Office told Malacanang reporters Monday afternoon.

Fajardo said that "if the President stays home, this means, she goes home to their family residence in La Vista, Loyola Heights, Quezon City."

President Arroyo and her delegation are currently on a side trip to Hong Kong to meet with executives of the Shangri-la Group of resorts and hotels, and her foreign anti-graft consultant Anthony Kuok.

In its latest advisory, the DoH said arriving passengers need not quarantine themselves if they did not have flu-like symptoms.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque said, however, the new policy was not ordered in time for President Arroyo's arrival. (PNA)
