OVP, PNP file criminal raps vs. Al-Alamia recruitment agency

MANILA, June 29 – The Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday filed criminal charges against an agency for illegal recruitment and human trafficking before the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Vice President Noli de Castro and PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) filed the charges for illegal recruitment, swindling and human trafficking before DOJ following the rescue of 97 victims from different parts of the country.

In their complaint, the PNP-CIDG and the Office of Vice President Noli De Castro filed the charges against the officials and staff of Al-Alamia International Manpower Services.

The respondent has its offices in Ermita, Manila who promised their victims to be given jobs as domestic helpers in Dubai, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait.

The victims are now in the care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Visayan Forum Foundation pending the hearing of the case they filed against the recruitment agency. (PNA)
