MANILA, June 25 — Pampanga Governor Eduardo "Among Ed" Panlilio today admitted that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is a sure winner if she decides to run in the 2nd District of the province of Pampanga.

“If ever there will be an election now in the 2nd district, she’ll win because she’s bringing a lot of blessings to the people there,” he said Thursday afternoon in Manila.

The priest turned politician said the many projects Arroyo has given to the district will be the main reason on why she will win there. Lubao, Pampanga is the hometown of President Macapagal-Arroyo.

The Chief Executive was able to build covered courts, irrigation system and farm to market roads in the area to name a few.

However, Panlilio noted that the people of Pampanga are aware of the reason why different infrastrucure and irrigation projects were constructed in the area.

“Pampanga has four congressional districts but 15 out of 17 of Arroyo’s visits this year are only in the second district,” Panlilio pointed out.

But Panlilio added, the President should not be too confident since there will be other candidates that are likely to challenge her for the post.

Political pundits speculate that Arroyo will run for a Congressional seat next year after she steps down as President. Malacanang, on the other hand, maintains that the President has all the right to maintain her political plans private.

Presidential son and incumbent congressman Mikey Arroyo earlier said that he is willing to give up his candidacy for his mother, if she decides to run. (PNA)
