Local private firms, overseas recruitment agencies commit 25,111 jobs in the 3-day livelihood/job fair in Iloilo City

ILOILO CITY, June 9 – A total of 29 local companies and 19 overseas recruitment agencies have committed to join the three-day Kalayaan 2009 livelihood and job fair in Iloilo City, the center of the 111th Independence Day celebration in Western Visayas.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regional director Aida M. Estabillo said that the job fair for overseas employment will be held starting June 12 to give jobseekers ample time to apply.

Some 23,500 sea-based and land-based overseas job vacancies were posted by the 19 participating recruitment agencies.

The vacancies are for skilled workers, office staff, baby sitters, health workers, lifeguards, swimming instructors, domestic helpers, sales ladies, accountants, and therapists, among others.

The local private firms will have 1,611 vacancies made available.

Some of the vacancies posted are criminologists, registered nurses, IT professionals, cashiers, mechanical engineers, laboratory analysts, loans supervisor, salesmen, branch managers, marketing officers, real estate marketing agents, program assistants, finance tellers, bookkeepers, audit assistants, bartenders, kitchen staff, sales and marketing staff, certified public accountants and barista, among others.

DOLE announced that displaced workers and their dependents so long as they meet the classification required for the vacant position will be given preference.

Applicants are advised to bring along their detailed résumé, certificate of employment, if any, transcript of records, passport (for overseas employment) and other credentials. (PNA) FFC/PGL/vlo
