Gov't agencies in Western Visayas open 1,462 vacancies for Kalayaan 2009 job and livelihood fair

ILOILO CITY, June 9 – Some 1,462 job opportunities will be made available by participating government agencies to thousands of interested job seekers during the three-day Kalayaan 2009 job and livelihood fair that will kick off on June 12 at the Amigo Plaza Mall here.

The activity which is part of this year’s celebration of the 111th Independence Day will be participated in by 14 government agencies.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regional director Aida M. Estabillo said around 1,462 vacancies to include 175 unfilled plantilla positions and 1, 287 slots for emergency short term employment under the Comprehensive Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (CLEEP) will be made available on June 12.

The participating government agencies include the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) with 189 vacancies for short-term employment; Department of Health (DOH), 67 vacancies composed of 62 unfilled positions and five for emergency employment and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), 305 jobs to include 39 plantilla positions and 266 for emergency employment;

Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), 31 vacant plantilla positions; Department of Education (DepEd), 427 with 15 plantilla positions and 412 for emergency employment; Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), 12 composed of 10 plantilla positions and two for emergency short-term employment, Department of Agriculture with 25 vacancies and DOLE with 335 vacancies composed of seven unfilled plantilla positions and 328 for short-term employment.

Close to 27,000 jobs are to be posted during the three-day job fair to include local and overseas recruitment agencies.

Vacancies in local private companies will be featured on June 13 while job fair for overseas placement will commence on June 12 and end on June 14.

Displaced workers or their dependents who meet the qualifications required by the positions will be given preference.

Applicants are required to bring along their detailed résumé, certificate of employment, if any, transcript of records and other credentials. (PNA) LAP/PGLena/vlo
