MANILA, June 6 — The Manila Police District Traffic Enforcement Unit has advised the public that the northbound and southbound lanes of Roxas Blvd. from Katigbak to T.M. Kalaw Ave. will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 6 a.m. on June 12, 2009 (Friday) in celebration of the 111th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Philippine Independence.

In its traffic advisory issued Saturday through the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the MPD said that there will be rerouting of vehicles in the affected areas as follows:

–All vehicles traveling northward along Roxas Blvd. shall turn right to T.M. Kalaw, left Ma. Orosa to point of destination;

–All vehicles traveling southward coming from Del Pan Bridge-Pier Zone shall turn left to P. Burgos Ave., right to Ma. Orosa to point of destination; and

–All vehicles coming from MacArthur, Jones and Quezon Bridges intending to utilize the southbound lane of Roxas Blvd. from P. Burgos shall take Round Table, Ma. Orosa or use Taft Avenue to point of destination.

This traffic rerouting plan will give way to the nationwide flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies to be led by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at the Rizal Park during the Independence Day celebration.

After the rites, the three-day Job and Livelihood Fair will start at Lorenzo Ruiz, Rizal Park with Sentrong Kagitingan, Sentrong Kasipagan and Sentrong Kagalingan.

On its first day on June 12, the Job Fair will offer vacant positions/emergency employment contracts with various non-government agencies (NGAs) and local government units (LGUs).

The following day, June 13, private sector job openings shall be accessible, while on June 14, sea- and land-based positions shall benefit OFWs or overseas Filipino workers. (PNA) scs/PR/PIA
