Victoria town grandma crowned 'Lola Lakambini ng Tarlak 09'

CAPITOL HILL, Tarlac City, May 22 — A 62-year old senior citizen, Lola Helen Adriano from the municipality of Victoria, was crowned Lola Lakambini ng Tarlac this year during the pageant night at the Maria Cristina Park here Tuesday night.

The “Lakambini”, a pageant for senior citizens which attracted 17 participants from all over the province, is a competition aimed at giving much credit to the talent, beauty and wisdom to the older women of Tarlac.

Named first runner-up was 61-year old Basilisa Nabong from the city of Tarlac, second runner-up Nancy Luz Pobre from the municipality of Mayantoc, third runner-up 60-year old Salvacion dela Cruz from the municipality of Gerona and fourth runner-up was 63-year old Dolores Evangelista from the municipality of Anao .

The eldest candidate was 75-year old Lapurisima Roque from the municipality of Concepcion who was also named Lola Photogenic while Elizabeth Balmores from the municipality of Pura was the youngest at 60 years old.

Adriano, who received a cash prize of P8,000 for winning the pageant was likewise named best in Filipina Gown.

The said pageant was made possible through the initiative and effort of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.

The Lola Lakambini ng Tarlac is now on its second year as a major part of Tarlac’s celebration of the Araw ng Lalawigan which is being commemorated every 28th of May. (PNA)
