Russian-Egyptian summit in Cairo tops agenda of Moscow talks

MOSCOW, May 20 — Russian and Egyptian foreign ministers Sergei Lavrov and Ahmed Aboul Gheit are discussing the upcoming summit in Cairo in late June.

“Today we will continue our intensive dialogue that recently acquired all characteristics of strategic partnership,” Lavrov said in his opening remarks to the talks that began in Moscow on Wednesday. “I hope we will consider the whole range of bilateral and international issues taking into account the tasks coordinated by our presidents.”

“The main task is to properly prepare the upcoming Russian-Egyptian summit. I believe we will pay special attention to this issue at our meeting,” he said.

“I hope we will continue our friendship,” Lavrov concluded. (PNA/Itar-Tass)
