ILOILO CITY, May 18 – Farmers in Iloilo province are being told to avail of the Department of Agriculture (DA) palay subsidy.

Iloilo Provincial Agriculture Officer Dr. Ildefonso Toledo said with the DA continuation of the palay subsidy program, the farmers with a maximum of five hectares could tie up with their Municipal Agriculture Officers (MAOs) so they could be qualified and master listed for the program.

Toledo said that through the program, the farmers who have been master listed could avail of the certified seeds now costing P1,200 per bag for only P600 per bag with the 50 percent of the price as DA equity.

The provincial agriculture officer said that farmers owning only a maximum of five hectares could avail of the program because this is intended for the small landholdings.

Toledo said that farmers here in Iloilo can only avail of the program until September and so they must now coordinate with their MAOs. (PNA) LAP/AJP/vlo
