LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, May 5 -— Mediamen in Pangasinan underwent training seminar relative to security and protection measures given by the Police Provincial Office on Tuesday.

The training seminar was sought by officers and members of the Pangasinan Press and Radio Club (PPRC) headed by Allan Sison as they do not want to be added as next victims of media killings.

Police Provincial Director Senior Superintendent Percival Barba approved the training seminar so that mediamen would know what to do when placed in a difficult situation, such as when somebody would make an attempt on their lives.

Noting that mediamen often receive death threats because of their work, the police conducted a seminar for them on proper gun handling as well as in marksmanship.

Training director was Chief Inspector Ferdinand de Asis, a certified police marksman himself.

After the seminars, each mediaman was asked to fire a Caliber 45 pistol at the Police Provincial Office Shooting Range.

Those who passed the test are being encouraged to join authorized shootfests to further improve their marksmanship proficiency. (PNA)
