Barangay tanod killed in Agusan del Sur fire

BUTUAN CITY, May 3 – A fire of still unknown origin killed a barangay tanod and gutted at least four houses in Purok 6, Barangay 4, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur early Sunday morning.

Initial report reaching Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) at Camp Rafael C. Rodriguez here said fire fighters were still controlling the fire that started at 9:45 in the morning.

Chief Supt. Jaime E. Milla, PRO 13 police chief, said live electrical wire accidentally fell on Junie Grantos, barangay tanod of Barangay 4 while he was attending to fire victims.

Responding elements from San Francisco Municipal Police Station and volunteers immediately brought the victim to D.O. Plaza Memorial Hospital for medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The fire allegedly started at a house rented by a local official in San Francisco town.(PNA)
