London stock market slightly down

LONDON, April 22 — The London market closed slightly lower on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday's eagerly-awaited Budget, with the benchmark FTSE 100 index down by 3.40 points, or 0.09 percent, to 3,987.46.

Euroasian Natural Resources topped the winning list with an 8. 27-percent rise, with Associated British Foods as the second winner with a 4.89-percent gain.

Tesco rose 4.9 percent after the retail giant reported profits of 3.1 billion pounds (about 4.56 billion U.S. dollars).

The biggest faller was banker Lloyds Group, down 9.1 percent. (PNA/Xinhua)
