Traditional Lenten “Pabasa”

Community members along Piy Margal St. in Sampaloc, Manila take turns participating in the “pabasa” (singing of the passages of the passion of Christ) in observance of the Holy Week. The “pabasa” is held even along street corners or in front of private houses as shown in the picture and is a tradition observed even in highly urbanized communities throughout the country.
